About Alive Wire PDF Print E-mail

As a couple high-schoolers in a local rock band in Texas, twin brothers Joel and Jeff decided to try something different from the rest of their friends and schoolmates. After graduation they left the rural American setting they'd known and spent what they had on tickets to Europe. In Switzerland they recorded a CD and began touring around Europe; playing in clubs, bars, universities and TV and Radio stations.

They never became huge, but being a somewhat rare American group in far flung lands gave opportunities for tours across Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. This led to three recording projects and some radio and TV spots in Switzerland, France, Italy, Austria, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Serbia... The most recent recording - "Phosphonic" was distributed by indie record label Ugly Records in Switzerland, France, Canada and Germany with verified internet downloads that broke the 200,000 mark.

Those times taught the guys some lessons and gave some vivid experiences: singing across from the Hari Krishnas' stage at the Pepsi/MTV festival in Hungary, concerts in a porn theater in Yugoslavia, jamming with the squatter punks of Geneva, an acoustic gig at a drug dealing gay bar in France... Playing shows in these unfamiliar and even awkward settings actually gave a healthy contrast for the music. Hopeful music gains clarity in darkness.

All of this exposure has provided diversity in musical influences and a unique multicultural perspective for the band. Alive Wire blends live ethnic percussion and electronic rhythms and effects. The songs are layered with saturated guitars and bass tones that give way to subtle yet powerful vocal melodies and harmonies.

Alive Wire is back in the US now and has begun recording and performing locally. The band has upcoming tour dates planned in Central America and the West coast of the US. CONTACT THEM to book dates, or find more info about BOOKING HERE.
